Hobart Brothers Company and ITW Food Equipment Group Raise Over $46,000 for Local Charity

By: Hobart Brothers

TROY, Ohio. April 25, 2013 — Hobart Brothers Company and ITW Food Equipment Group hosted the Second Annual Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon on Saturday, April 20, 2013. The event, held at Poelking Marian Lanes in Huber Heights, OH, raised $46,625 to support Junior Achievement educational programs in financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship for grades K-12.

“ITW truly believes in Junior Achievement’s mission to provide hands-on programs that prepare our young people for the real world. As a Junior Achievement volunteer, I have experienced first-hand how we can make a difference with the students in our local schools,” says Jennifer Monnin, president/general manager, tubular wire division at Hobart Brothers Company. “I am so excited about the positive impact we can make with the money raised.”

The event consisted of 245 bowlers composing 49 teams, each of which raised money in advance of the Bowl-a-Thon and had a minimum $500 fundraising goal per team. Contributions collected from employees received a 3-to-1 match by parent company, Illinois Tool Works (ITW).

The companies anticipate additional donations in the coming weeks, which have a potential to raise the total fundraising efforts to more than $47,000.

Prior to the Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon, employees collected donations individually from outside of the two companies. Business units within the company added to those donations by way of bake sales and raffles for donated prizes.
