Flux-Cored Wires Improve Productivity on Out-of-Position Welding Applications

By: Hobart Brothers

TROY, Ohio. February 16, 2011—To improve weldability and productivity on out-of-position welding applications, Hobart Brothers offers two gas-shielded, flux-cored welding wires: Tri-Mark® TM-811N1 and TM-811N2. Both wires provide good low temperature impact strengths, making them usable for petrochemical applications and the fabrication of mining and earthmoving equipment (TM-811N1), along with shipbuilding, offshore drilling rigs and other HSLA steel applications (TM-811N2). The TM-811N1 and TM-811N2 wires also both work well for welding on weathering steels that do not require immediate color match.

To promote good CVN (Charpy V-notch) impact values at low temperature, the TM-811N1 welding wire offers a weld deposit of 1 percent nickel and the TM-811N2 wire offers a weld deposit with 2 percent nickel. Additionally, the wires’ stable arc and flat bead profile help improve productivity by providing consistent weld quality and minimizing rework, while their low spatter levels and fast-freezing, easy-to-remove slag reduce post-weld cleanup.

Both the TM-811N1 and TM-811N2 welding wires are recommended for single- and multi-pass applications using either 75 percent Argon/25 percent CO2 or 100 percent CO2. They are available in standard diameters of .045-, .052- and 1/16-inch and in multiple packaging styles and weights.
