Hi, my name is John Will and I’m the product manager for Hobart. Today I want to talk to you about a product we’ve released called Fabcor F6.
Automotive companies today are being challenged to move to more fuel-efficient vehicles. This has caused them to switch to thinner, lighter-weight materials. These materials have very little to no corrosion resistance. So the solution has been for automotive companies to switch to galvanized material.
Galvanized material presents its own problems with welding because it melts and vaporizes at a temperature much below that of steel. When zinc vaporizes in the weld puddle, it creates lots of porosity and spatter, which is not desirable for the automotive companies.
