FabCOR Metal-Cored Wire Helps Taylor Improve Quality

By: Hobart Brothers

At Mississippi-based Taylor Machine Works, weld appearance is just as important as weld integrity. The company gains both with Hobart metal-cored wire. In addition to “good eye appeal,” Taylor has experienced fewer cracking and undercut issues since converting from flux-cored wire, and it’s easier for welders to produce sound welds with the metal-cored wire. Welders appreciate the ability to weld easily with the wire, while achieving quality results even if the base material is dirty. For a company known in the industry for manufacturing dependable, innovative forklifts and other lift trucks, having a filler metal that produces high-quality welds is essential to producing high-quality equipment.

It’s very important to have good eye appeal. You want your product to look good as it goes out to the customer. Switching to the Hobart Metal-Core Wire, we had a lot less cracking issues with this wire. I have more people pass the test than I did with the flush-core wire.

It seems like it puts a better weld down even on material that’s not cleaned just perfectly, doesn’t have as bad of undercut on your base metal. It’s more forgiving. It just makes a pretty weld.
