TROY, Ohio. June 5, 2012 – Hobart Brothers announced that has received the CE (Conformité Européenne or European Conformity) Mark for two more of its filler metals. The Hobart® TM-881K2 and Hobart TM-791 gas-shielded flux-cored wires in 1.2 mm (.045 inch) diameters now both meet the strict safety and health requirements necessary for them to be sold and used in European Union (EU) countries. The CE Mark also allows the filler metals to be sold in countries doing work for the EU. These wires join Hobart Brothers other products with CE Mark approvals, including Metalloy® Vantage, FabCO® RXR and Excel Arc™ 71.

The TM-881K2 wire is designed for offshore platform and shipbuilding applications, and provides excellent impact values (-60 Celsius) in the as welded or stress relieved conditions. It also provides low hydrogen levels – less than 5ml per 100g of weldment – to help mitigate the risk of cracking and reduce its associated rework. TM-881K2 wire operates with 100 percent CO2 or a 75 to 85 percent argon/CO2 shielding gas balance.

The TM-791 wire features a fast-freezing slag that easily releases to help minimize weld defects, like slag inclusions, and also increase productivity by reducing the need for post-weld chipping or grinding. The wire can be used for a variety of applications, including shipbuilding, and rail car, general plate and pressure vessel fabrication. It generates low spatter levels and can be used with 100 percent CO2 or 80 percent argon/20 percent CO2.
