VertiWear All Position Wires Optimize Hardfacing
TROY, Ohio. January 10, 2005 - For impact and abrasion resistance, Hobart Brothers introduces its McKay® VertiWear® 600 and VertiWear® AP gas-shielded flux cored hard surfacing wires. Designed for surfacing mild- and low-alloy steel components that are prone to moderate abrasive wear and medium to high impact, VertiWear 600 deposits a multi-purpose martensitic steel alloy and has excellent operator appeal. VertiWear AP is best suited to build-up or overlay on austenitic manganese steel or for joining austenitic manganese steel to manganese, carbon, or low-alloy steel. Both wires can be used for multiple layer deposits and operate with DCEP (reverse polarity) power.
Higher Deposition and Improved Resistance
Offering crack free deposits at a hardness of 55 to 60 Rc, the VertiWear 600 increases deposition rates and is available in 25-lb. spools of .045- and 1/16-in diameter wires. The VertiWear AP is available in .045-in diameter on 25-lb. spools and provides exceptional impact resistance while work-hardening to 50 to 55 Rc. With a smooth, semi-spray arc transfer with 100 percent CO2 or 75 percent AR/25 percent CO2 shielding gas, both wires are ideal for out-of-position welding.
In addition to lengthening the life of the parts and preventing excessive wear, VertiWear wires reduce downtime due to breakage and reduce the need to maintain an additional parts inventory. Costing 20 to 30 percent less than replacing worn parts, hardfacing with the VertiWear 600 and AP wires serves as a solid alternative to buying new equipment. VertiWear 600 are ideal for repairing dragline chain, mill guides and coupling boxes, whereas VertiWear AP are best suited for bucket teeth and lips, crusher jaws and cones, and dragline buckets.
