New ChromaWeld Stainless Steel Product Line Offers Premium Welding Performance

TROY, Ohio. July 20, 2005 - Today Hobart Brothers introduced its new line of McKay® ChromaWeld gas shielded flux cored stainless steel welding wires for premium welding performance.  The ChromaWeld product line includes the 308LT0, 309LT0 and 316LT0 for flat and horizontal position welding, along with the 308LT1, 309LT1 and 316LT1 for all-position welding.  The new product line expands Hobart Brothers’ existing offering of McKay premium stainless products, which includes Stick electrodes and solid wire.

Improved Welding Performance

Designed for use with 75 percent Argon/25 percent CO2  or 100 percent CO2  shielding gases, the ChromaWeld product line is optimized for stainless steel applications where weld bead appearance is particularly important. ChromaWeld products produce a bright, flat bead profile, while providing excellent slag release and creating minimal spatter. “The ChromaWeld products are high performance wires.  The fact that our customers can now rely on the McKay brand to meet all their stainless steel welding applications - whether it’s Stick, solid wire or now flux cored wire - really sets a standard for premium filler metals,” says Keith Packard, product manager, Hobart Brothers.

ChromaWeld products are available in .045” and 1/16” diameters on 28-lb. vacuum-sealed spools.  Available grades include 308L, 309L and 316L, for both flat/horizontal or all-position welding.
