New Wire Welds High Strength Steel

TROY, Ohio. June 25, 2006 - Heavy equipment manufacturers now have a new option for welding high strength steel. Today, Hobart Brothers’ introduced its new Tri-Mark ® TM-101 gas-shielded flux cored wire. Designed for A514, A710 and similar HSLA and Q&T steels.  The TM-101 offers a combination of exceptionally low temperature impact toughness, along with tensile strengths in the 105,000-115,000 psi range.

“We’re very excited about the development of the TM-101 wire,” says Keith Packard, Hobart Brothers’ tubular product manager. “Heavy equipment manufacturers requiring 100,000 psi will find improved weldability and a softer arc with this new wire.  Plus, they can meet their needs with a product from a company they trust.”

Available for purchase through all Hobart authorized distributors, the TM-101 is available in .045- and 1/16-in. diameters and features a smooth and stable arc, low spatter and a flat bead profile. Quick freezing slag also makes the wire ideal for high deposition welding on either single or multiple pass applications. A 75 percent Argon, 25 percent CO2 gas mixture at a flow rate of 35-50 CFH is recommended when using the TM-101 wire.
