FabCO 91K2-C Provides Superior All-Position Welding Performance and Low Temperature Toughness

TROY, Ohio. May 31, 2005 - Excellent for all-position welding, Hobart Brothers’ Hobart®   FabCO® 91K2-C low alloy gas-shielded flux cored wire provides low temperature toughness combined with tensile strength in the 90,000 -110,000 psi range. FabCO 91K2-C is a superior choice for high strength low alloy steels, such as A514, A710 and HY-80, commonly found in offshore, rail and shipyard applications.

Excellent Performance

FabCO 91K2-C allows for single- and multiple-pass welding in all positions and uses 100 percent CO2 shielding gas. Available in wire diameters ranging from .045- to 1/16- inch, FabCO 91K2-C provides a stable arc transfer and produces excellent weld bead profiles. It has low spatter levels and easy slag removal. There is no need to apply anti-spatter compounds prior to welding, nor is post-weld grinding necessary.  As a result, FabCO 91K2-C saves the customer money by decreasing labor and downtime.

The smooth stable arc, low spatter levels and fast freezing slag of FabCO 91K2-C produces exceptional welding performance. “It is the combination of high toughness and high strength properties coupled with excellent operator appeal that makes FabCO91K2-C unique and appealing – particularly to the offshore, rail and shipyard industries,” says Steve Barhorst, product manager for Hobart Brothers. Typical Charpy V-Notch (CVN) impact values range from 110 ft/lbs at 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 degrees Celsius) to 70 ft/lbs at -60 degrees Fahrenheit (-51 degrees Celsius).
